Where is the Connecticut Bar Exam Located?

The Connecticut Bar Exam is held at the CT Convention Center in Hartford, which is located at 100 Columbus Blvd, Hartford, CT 06103.

The CT Convention Center has an attached eight-floor parking garage that operates 24/7 with 2,600 spaces. Parking fees are charged at $3 for the first hour and $2 per hour after that, with a daily maximum of $19. Additional parking is available at the Connecticut Science Center, the Front Street South garage, and the Front Street North garage.

How much does the Connecticut Bar Exam cost?

A standard fee of $800 applies for applications received before Oct 31, 2022.

A late fee of $900 applies for applications received from Nov 1, 2022 to Nov 30, 2022.

What is the format of the Connecticut Bar Exam like?

The Connecticut Bar Exam follows a two-day UBE format.

Day 1:

  • Morning: two 90-minute MPT (Multistate Performance Test) questions
  • Afternoon: six 30-minute Multistate Essay Exam (MEE) questions

Day 2:

  • Morning: 100 Multistate Bar Exam (MBE) questions
  • Afternoon: 100 Multistate Bar Exam (MBE) questions

What is the minimum MPRE score needed to take the Connecticut Bar exam?

Applicants require a scaled MPRE score of 80 or a C grade or higher in an ethics course for admission. These results must be obtained either four years prior or one year after applying for admission.

How is the Connecticut Bar Exam Graded?

The Connecticut Bar Exam is weighted as follows:

  • MBE = 50%
  • Essays = 30%
  • MPT = 20%

Participants must obtain a total score of 266 out of 400 to pass the exam.

When are the Connecticut Bar scores released?

Connecticut Bar are usually released at the following times:

  • February exam results in early May
  • July exam results in early October

Due to the postponing of the July exam until the fall, the release of results will also be delayed.

Can I transfer my MBE scores from another jurisdiction?

The applicant can use a scaled MBE score from one of three previous successful administrations of the bar exam.

A transferred MBE score will not result in a transferred UBE score, as the applicant must sit both days of the Connecticut UBE to obtain one.

What is the Connecticut Reciprocity Agreement like?

Connecticut will accept admission on motion if the applicant has been practicing law for five of the last ten years immediately preceding the application and is a member of a reciprocating state bar—a list that includes well over half of the state bars in the country. Furthermore, the applicant must be a graduate of an ABA-accredited law school.
